To the Pioneer

Uncharted land is scary.

It's big. Unknown. There are wild animals ready to devour you.

But the most difficult part is there is a lot of work to do before the benefits come to pass.

You must believe in your vision, cut away the wild growth, dig the ground, scatter your seed, and wait for the rains to come and feed the work.

That's where I often find myself, in the wild land pioneering my way to create fruitful territory.

The vision is easy.

The ideas are plentiful.

The work is hard.

And as I search out the untouched paths, refusing the comfort of ones so overused, the hard work will establish in me its own territory--faithfulness, patience, gratefulness, and love for the land that spent my hands. And I will establish authority in the space that I shape and create.

Heaven to earth. Earth to heaven. A beautiful relationship.

As I've dreamed, I invite you to dream.

As I've wandered, I invite you to wander; wander into the wilderness where you will certainly experience wild beasts that chase you down shouting words like can't and shouldn't and not enough.

BUT

the promise is the land is GOOD and the KEEPER of the work is FAITHFUL,

and building IT will build you.

So, keep going my fellow pioneer. You are not alone.

Teresa, Your Life Notes are powerful, as is your poetry. Full of wisdom. True wisdom derived from research, hard work, reading, writing, prayer, and honest reflection. As a fellow poet, I must say that your book cannot fail to be an inspiration to many. And, Lord knows, our world needs it as much as ever. - Jay Wright, author of Quiet Escapes: Poems for Perspective
